The Suffering Bastard. One cocktail. Two stories.

There are two stories about the origins of this drink. This recipe is the one invented in 1942 at the Hotel Shepheard in Cairo. There is another more elaborate tiki recipe is the famed Trader Vic. Be assured that whichever one you subscribe to, it get’s that much better with NOXX&DUNN Florida Rum.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1oz NOXX&DUNN Florida Rum
  • 1oz dry gin
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • approx. 4oz chilled ginger ale

DIRECTIONS

Shake all ingredients except for ginger ale with ice for 15-20 seconds. Pour unstrained into a double Old Fashioned glass and top with ginger ale, adding more ice if needed. Garnish with a sprig of mint or an orange slice.
